I really should be writing something else at the moment. News, articles, The Blog Herald posts – anything really. But sometimes things just doesn’t work out that way.
I feel like starting a blog network.
In lack of other things to say (stuff going on that’s taking all my time) here, projects to launch and masterpieces to link I give you three web services you really should try out. Really. They’ll make your life easier.
Blogs are the (not so) new big thing, we all know that. Print media is having a hard time battling the internet in the first place, but add to that professional blogs with their fluid content flow and you have a real suckerpunch to the media establishment.
Nintendo DS is a lovely little thing. This summer it has stolen a lot of my otherwise book-labeled time, which is fine of course. The past year the question of which portable console to have in your bag hasn’t even been worth considering since the PSP’s been bleak as even, and the DS plays Game Boy Advance games.
Just published a post over at The Blog Herald about how the Snakes on a Plane blogosphere buzz is somewhat related to the ingenious ad campaign for The Blair Witch Project back in 1999.
Upcoming blog news later this week. Maybe I spoke premature regarding the Wordpress stuff, I’ll deal with that later on.
One of the first things I do when I’ve set up a new Wordpress blog, whether it’s a regular blog or a site using Wordpress as a CMS (content management system), is adding the ImageManager plugin. Yes, I’ll add myself to one of those who think Wordpress’ built in image uploader and manager is kind of crappy.
Still doing stuff in the background here at tdhedengren.com – please bear with any weird stuff that might occur.
Anyway, I’ve decided to start posting about Wordpress, the open source blogging software that powers this blog among other things. It won’t be a lot of technical stuff though, instead I’ll focus on good plugins, themes and good ideas for Wordpress users. I might even release a theme or two, something I’ve been meaning to do for a while since I tend to work through a whole bunch of design concepts when developing new sites. Just recently I did a Web 2.0 blog mock-up and I’m sure some people would enjoy it (although I personally feel it’s a bit over the top on the 2.0 side).
So I should probably be working with something else but I can’t help it: this blog needs some lovin’. Right now I’m doing some things in the background that may or may not screw things up - please bear with me if things turn ugly the upcoming day or two.
Thanks, and kill that dinosaur!
Despite what I’ve heard and read, I went to see Superman Returns (IMDB) the past weekend. Being a fan of the older Superman movies I’ve dreaded this for some time, especially since Batman Begins left me with mixed feelings.
Brandon Routh is the new Superman (and Clark Kent of course), not much of a match for Christopher Reeve though. Routh feels pretty uncharismatic and I’m not impressed. Lois Lane is portrayed by Kate Bosworth, and she’s doing a pretty good job I guess. However, the relationship between Superman, Lane and James Marsden’s Jerry White feels a bit, well, soapy.
I just can’t help to link Seth Godin’s post, Advice for authors. It’s a good read.
And this is a short post. I really should get that “nice reads” box I’ve been planning up soon.
