Freelance Friday: My Writing Week 48 1

Can’t talk, drinking scolded wine! That’s glögg in Swedish, dear reader from elsewhere. A Christmas tradition here. I did write some stuff too, though.

Did you catch the Notes Blog site?

uTorrent for Mac in Beta 0

I’m reading that uTorrent is finally available in a beta version for Mac. It was my torrent client of choice in my past (Windows) life, but today I’m more than happy with Transmission and I won’t be switching anytime soon.

The History of PC Hardware 0

Nice photo post on the early form of PC hardware. But where’s the follow-up, why stop with the first server?

Loving My Kiki James Journal 1

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone reading my blog, but I’m a total nut for notebooks. The favorite is high quality stuff from Moleskine, but that doesn’t mean that I neglect other offerings out there. So when Kiki James in London wanted to send me handmade leather bound journal, I just couldn’t say no.

Naturally, I had to document this baby, so with my trusty Sony Cybershot T70, I tore the box from the postman’s hands, snarled, and retreated to my home office. Read more

Pick the Right Name for Your Bundle of Joy 2

I love services like this. What a Lovely Name helps you name your baby, using tags and search. Very cool.

The Notes Blog Site Sneaks Online 0

It’s not like I’ve hidden it or anything, but the foundation for the Notes Blog site is now online. More on that later.

Asides Are Addictive 1

Wow. This is the first time I have an asides like functionality on any of my blogs, and I find it totally addictive, as you can see below. Five posts, five asides post, and then a regular one (like the one you’re reading now), followed by a somewhat more sane use of asides.

I find it very easy to share something funny with you all, dear readers, using asides. A bit too easy really, since it means that I risk to pump out a bunch of posts each day, but none are really original content. Links are great, but I know you’re dying to hear what I have to say, even if you’re reading it. Sometimes I think that having to go through a bit more hassle is a good way to make sure you’re taking the time needed, although I won’t go so far as to blabber about Slow Blogging…

Anyway, if you’re as addicted to asides - mine or the pure notion of having them on your blog - you should read my post on the matter over at Devlounge. The upcoming WordPress 2.7 certainly does a lot of things right, that’s for sure.

And I promise I’ll write more posts. I’ve been busy, that’s all I can say.

8-bit World of Warcraft 1

It all started as an April fools gag, but now it’s dead serious. Download The Molten Core, a fan made World of Warcraft interpretation in 8-bit style. For Windows, and free.

SnappyFingers Answers Your Questions 0

I’ve got a soft spot for these answer based search engines. I used to love AskJeeves (just Ask.com these days), partly because Jeeves and Wooster is such a great series. SnappyFingers is another one, in beta. Give it a go.

I Want the Wired Wish List Bag 0

I really do. Lots of crap in there, but the bag and some of the gadgets makes me giddy.
