It's nothing new. What should be considered new and detrimental is relying solely on "solutions" like affiliate marketing and Adsense to make money. Affiliate marketing and Adsense rely heavily on probability. Getting paid for blog posts does not rely on probability and gives writers/bloggers a chance to make a profit with each new blog entry.
