Fooling the Psyche, or how I can write twice as much fiction

Scribbles in a notebookI decided to start a little project this week. As you might know I’m also writing fiction, both for online projects (like OrnTales.com) and, well, offline things.

To further push myself to the fiction breathing monster of ten years ago, I’m willing to try any technique. My most recent one is very analog indeed. I decided to buy a Moleskine notebook, and a high quality ball pen that felt good in my hand.

You know, it worked. To actually shape the words on paper, in a notebook that feels right, made me enjoy it all the more. And the experiment isn’t forcing itself on any of my other writing either, I usually work with several stories at once, and having one on paper while the other (at the moment) is on the MacBook sounds, and feels, like a good idea.

Fiction in progress

So now I’m bringing my notebook to the couch, sips tea, and writes about violence, rejection, and daggers in the back.

That I’m just fooling my mind into shaping more stories is a whole different matter. Whatever floats your boat, eh?
