Fooling the Psyche, or how I can write twice as much fiction

Scribbles in a notebookI decided to start a little project this week. As you might know I’m also writing fiction, both for online projects (like OrnTales.com) and, well, offline things.

To further push myself to the fiction breathing monster of ten years ago, I’m willing to try any technique. My most recent one is very analog indeed. I decided to buy a Moleskine notebook, and a high quality ball pen that felt good in my hand.

You know, it worked. To actually shape the words on paper, in a notebook that feels right, made me enjoy it all the more. And the experiment isn’t forcing itself on any of my other writing either, I usually work with several stories at once, and having one on paper while the other (at the moment) is on the MacBook sounds, and feels, like a good idea.

Fiction in progress

So now I’m bringing my notebook to the couch, sips tea, and writes about violence, rejection, and daggers in the back.

That I’m just fooling my mind into shaping more stories is a whole different matter. Whatever floats your boat, eh?

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, but I think you’re kinda spoiling it for the readers. I think most of us thought you sat writing in a dark, cold satanic bat cave with dragons around you. Tea in the couch huh? Thanks for spoiling it… DUDE! ;)

    LOL @ Stiff!

Not bad, not bad at all. Its rare for writers to write works of fiction on paper, as rough drafts. Or in bound notebooks. The old ways never seems to go out of style. the smell of unused notebook and pens to write on, is ideal for one who likes to write. yeesh I probably used up several notebooks, when writing gibberish and loose thoughts.

I hear ya. It’s something special indeed.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention writing down what you dreamt on a notebook or any kind of paper, helps with the memory. regardless how foolish or strange one’s dreams are. They can all be used as for starters in fiction.
call me old fashioned or plain nuts, I find writing by hand appealing indeed

take it from me, I have had freaky dreams, nothing kinky, nor anything related to fetish. Strange, downright unusual, on very rare occasions inane. You should see my dream journals, some of them are short, but a handful of them are so long, that I can’t possibly write them all down. One of them took more than two years under the few hours of the night.
I intend to use them to write drafts as a loose reference points for stories.
Subconscious mind is an interesting thing. To be a writer, one has to be basically nuts or insane. comes with the territory with writing.
and i should have included this comment with the previous one, my mind is scattered at the moment.
