For aspiring authors

I just can’t help to link Seth Godin’s post, Advice for authors. It’s a good read.

And this is a short post. I really should get that “nice reads” box I’ve been planning up soon.

  1. An absolutely terrific link - and so true. Promotion is so important. Building a fanbase before the book? Probably just as important. I’ve heard there’s no better way to get good commercials than to have it spread by word of mouth. So even though the advices Mr. Godin gives isn’t something surprising, they are clear-cut and easy to take one’s heart.

Keep links and posts like this coming! :)

Sometimes the obvious is exactly what one needs. I found the post by Seth Godin very on target since it’s not far from one of my forthcoming projects (that will be announced in the coming weeks).

Anyway, when I find something interesting it will end up here, so stay tuned…

  3. Precisely. Often the forrest is missed because of all those darn trees. I really enjoyed the thoughts he provided, and going to take to my heart.

And I’m staying tune. I’m just silent most of the time ;)

What I don’t get is how one is supposed to build a fanbase before the book is published. I guess that you could blog about your writing, perhaps publish a few samples, but it still seems hard… Does anyone have a good example of someone who’s done this?

That’s how you do it, yes. However, what you specifically write about depends on what topic the book has, of course.

I’ll have reasons to revisit this topic in the coming weeks…
