The Blog Herald has a new owner

Wow. Matt Craven told the staffers about this in an e-mail yesterday, or perhaps the day before that, I’m still pre-coffee and don’t want to try to count time zones.

The Blog Herald is sold, to an undisclosed buyer at that.

As you probably know, I’ve been working for The Blog Herald for quite some time now, enjoying myself immensely. It was indeed my first serious foray in the blogosphere, and a truly learning experience. Matt’s been great, I’ve been accompanied by great writers on the site, which in turns have led me to get in touch with quality bloggers like Tony (his post on the matter), who have accompanied me over at Bloggertalks.

I feel honored having been part of such a huge player in the blogosphere, truly. Matt has really made this great, with a few bumps on the road of course, but all in all, made it great with his way of handling things.

Incidentally, you’ll be able to read an extensive interview with Matt over at Bloggertalks later today, made over time but with current commentaries on BlogMedia turned Problogging, and The Blog Herald sale. The interview with Matt is now online over at Bloggertalks. Have a look!

Will I stay with The Blog Herald? Well, I’ve just received an e-mail from the buyers, still undisclosed, so I’ll have to think about that. There are indeed options out there, and although I’ll not subject to a bidding war or anything, I’ll at least hear what they’ll have to say and offer me. Although I do not really like the fact that I’ll be working for an unknown owner, that sits bad with me my view of where the blogosphere and The Blog Herald should be. You know, all that blabbering about transparency has something in it after all.

This post will be updated when the interview with Matt is up over at Bloggertalks. Until then, congratulations on the sale, and good luck to the new owners, from yours truly!

  1. [...] Should we stay at The Blog Herald, which many of us identified as indistinguishable from the man who hired us, Matt Craven — or move on to different things? Our own blogs and bloggy aspirations? (wow — I was punning without knowing it) Take up a position with another news blog and continue our efforts there? [...]
