Among other things, I like to think I’m a fiction writer. I truly love writing fiction, and have for as long as I can remember. Fantasy has been my poison, from a time where Conan the Barbarian seemed to be the best thing on earth, to when the magic of Lord of the Rings ensnared me, leading to a life-long quest for more magical worlds to visit. I am by no means a reincarnation of JRR Tolkien, nor do I aspire to. My writing is my own, whether it be fantasy stories from my world of Orn, traditional thriller writing, poems, or science fiction.
This page will serve as a portal to my writing, a way to find your way. You can always get the latest updates from the fiction category, in traditional blog format.
The World of Orn
Orn is my fantasy world, a harsh and brutal world with dark undertones. My short stories, poems, and background material originating from Orn can be found on tdhedengren.com/fiction/orn/ - be sure to check it out. This page also serves as a reader’s guide as to in what order you should read the stories. The OrnTales.com Project
Orn’s been in the making for years and years, not always under that final name, but still. I have had it as a campaign world for traditional pen-and-paper role-playing games, I’ve written fiction in it, and I have dreamed about it. So launching OrnTales.com, now migrated into the fiction part of tdhedengren.com, was a natural step for me. For those of you who didn’t get to see the site, it was basically a set of short stories, or was supposed to be anyway, with a simple blog attached to it. The first short story published ran there, Quest for Knighthood, now available in full here.
I have canceled the project, in an effort to consolidate my online projects. Now Orn lives here, on the very site you’re reading, and I’ll keep it that way.
Other Types of Fiction Writing
I’m not only writing fantasy, over the years I’ve written short stories and (unpublished) books in several genres, including science fiction, horror, and somewhat humorous adventure stories. I’ve also written my fair share of poems, often trying to tell a story at the same time. Most of my work, however, have been written in Swedish, which is my primary language. Some of it, I’ll revisit again, rewriting it for publication here, while other works should and will stay where they are today, backed up and not meant to read. It is probably for the best.
I fully expect to have quite a lot of fiction up here, when looking back at this site a few years from now. Not everything will be Orn short stories, expect other things as well, so I hope you’ll stay with me in the coming weeks, months, and years. The best way to do that, incidentally, is of course to subscribe to my updates. It is free after all.
