Firefox Crashed Thrice 0cmnts

Three Firefox (for Mac) crashes this morning so far. It seems to be a bug of sorts, when opening new tabs too quickly after loading a web page in a separate tab. Not acceptable, there should be an auto-report error button when Firefox crashes!

You might remember from various social notes that I switched back from Safari to Firefox due to the instability of the former… Well, with Safari 3.1 out, maybe I should give the Apple browser another go?

Safari clashes with Gmail - Google restricts account access! 4cmnts

I’ve been running the Safari 3 beta on Mac for quite some time now, feeling happy about it. Unfortunately, although Apple claims it should work well with Google Apps, it seems it can get the users in quite a fix.

See, Google just restricted my access to my Gmail account!

What did I do with it? Well, Safari doesn’t manage to send mails every now and then, and that means you need to stop and click send again. Same goes sometimes when you’re browsing your e-mails and clicks on links just won’t register. Then you need to reload the Gmail page and you’re golden again.

That’s what I did. That’s when Google did this:

Restricted access to Gmail

That’s for reloading Gmail, people. Nothing more, nothing less. I do not use my account for spamming, sending large files, storing data or anything out of the ordinary. I just e-mail with it. I’m not even close to a quota or anything. Again, I’m just e-mailing with it!

And that’s for reloading Gmail!

This is not acceptable. I no longer see Gmail as a good first hand choice for e-mail because of this. It was easier to cope with before, when Safari just didn’t work well with Gmail, but this is outrageous.

Be warned. It could happen to you, and it might even happen under other browsers. Web hiccups isn’t exactly that uncommon, now is it?

Google need to get its act together, and Apple needs to fix Safari’s issues. Now.

Edit: It’s on Digg, please digg it if you’d like!

Update! They’ve open up access to my Gmail account again.

Server madness 1cmnt

Not this server for once though.

Man, I’m so tired. My weekend consisted of trying to restore a big Swedish site on a server with a burnt out disk. The hosting company did a great job setting up a new server for me, but DNS’ can’t be re-pointed to a new location instantly, and besides they couldn’t start restoring data from the dead disk until Monday so… Well, that was my Saturday night.

Sunday was all code, and today I’ve restored 50% of that same Swedish site, leaving me a full day behind schedule for an upcoming relaunch.

Doing stuff on the server now as well, so heavy on the poor ol’ Firefox that I can’t use it while it’s working. I probably pasted a little too many SQL commands there… Writing this in Safari, which actually isn’t half bad anymore.

Yeah, I feel just a little bit sorry for myself right now. This week will just get better though, and yes, that’s irony for you folks. Funeral on Friday and it involes taking a trip and staying from home two nights, which I hate.

My schedule is crying tears of blood and I just want to sleep.

Deep breaths, one step at a time. Sooner or later it’s a new week, with the prospect of things working out better.
